“We spend one can of Coke on guidance counselors,” says Bill Symonds, Director of the Global Pathways Institute at Arizona State University. Symonds describes the lack of engagement that students have in the career exploration process in a Here & Now podcast co-hosted by Robin Young and Jeremy Hobson.
Symonds continues that the money, we spend on counselors, is reflective of the 1 million students who drop out each year. The solution, he says, is to reconfigure how we deliver education and focus on career literacy.
