Filled with intrigue, insights, and action, the popular Mythbusters TV show uses elements of the scientific method to test the validity of rumors and myths. The show has also begun to bust the myth that STEM careers are boring and “nerdy”, encouraging students to explore STEM-related opportunities. Charter School for Applied Technologies teacher Christopher Derrick highlights that, “That show made it cool to be smart. Made it cool to explore and try things and investigate.” As STEM continues to show-up more and more in popular places, students are beginning to realize that, “Science is not all about textbooks and reading facts, it has to do a lot with real life situations and how you can apply it to everyday life.”
