Today the National Research Council (NRC) released a report, “Monitoring Progress Toward Successful K-12 STEM Education.” The report builds on previous work in this area, and
establishes key indicators for measuring improvements to the K-12 science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education system.

- Expand the number of students who ultimately pursue advanced degrees and careers in STEM fields, and broaden the participation of women and minorities,
- Expand the STEM-capable workforce and broaden the participation of women and minorities, and
- Increase science literacy for all students
